Model comparison
Cuisinart’s 12-cup glass brewers: DCC-1120NAS, DCC-1200NAS or DCC-4000?
Cuisinart’s 12-cup marking is a small manufacturer cup, not a large travel mug. Both the DCC-1120NAS and Brew Central DCC-1200NAS are rated for twelve five-ounce servings, or 60 ounces in the linked instructions. If a household pours bigger mugs, calculate its usual total first; the printed capacity alone does not show how many personal servings a pot will provide.
DCC-1120NAS: fewer warmer controls
The white DCC-1120NAS is the simpler 12-cup glass-carafe model. It has a warming plate, 1–4 cup mode, a scheduled start, adjustable automatic shutoff and both a permanent gold-tone filter and charcoal water filter. Its exact page and DCC-1120 Series booklet do not list a variable warmer-temperature control or a Bold/Regular button. Brew Pause is limited to 20 seconds. Choose it if the important features are a smaller batch option and scheduled pot brewing, without a need to choose the plate setting.
DCC-1200NAS: Brew Central plate adjustment
The stainless Brew Central DCC-1200NAS also uses a 12-cup glass carafe, 1–4 cup button, timer and warming plate, but its booklet documents three plate settings—Low, Medium and High—and a 30-second Brew Pause limit. It has a retro-style flip switch and a function knob for Auto On, Auto Off, Brew and clock settings. That longer pause is not permission to leave the pot off the plate for a long time: the manual says the basket can overflow and recommends finishing the brew before pouring. Nor does “adjustable keep warm” mean a thermal pot; coffee still rests on the electric plate.
The DCC-1120 and DCC-1200 both support a permanent filter or a #4 paper filter and both have a charcoal element for water filtration. Follow the exact booklet for replacement timing, filter preparation and decalcifying. The DCC-1200 manual documents a three-year limited U.S. household warranty and 120-volt design; do not assume that a different listing with a similar Brew Central name has the same finish or package.
DCC-4000: an earlier 12-cup model adds Bold
The discontinued black DCC-4000 is another 12-cup glass-pot machine. It shares a timer, 1–4 cup setting, adjustable warmer, gold-tone filter, charcoal filter and Brew Pause with the DCC-1200, but the exact DCC-4000 booklet also documents a Bold/Regular button. Its pause is limited to 20 seconds, unlike the 30-second setting listed for DCC-1200. Do not read the DCC-4000's older page as a current availability promise: verify the exact code, condition and package contents before considering a used or remaining-stock unit.
If the group is larger, compare the 14-cup DCC-3200
The DCC-3200BKSNAS moves from a 12-cup to a 14-cup glass pot and includes selectable warmer settings plus a Bold/Regular strength control. It is the more relevant current-reference comparison if you want the same broad glass-and-warmer routine with a larger rated batch and brew-strength adjustment. The product pages use separate exact model codes; check finish and suffix before ordering.
When a warming plate is not the answer
If the pot will sit between servings, first decide whether you want to keep coffee on a powered plate or hold it in an insulated carafe. The DCC-3400NAS is a 12-cup thermal-carafe alternative. The SS-21NAS pairs a smaller thermal carafe with a separate pod-or-reusable-grounds single-serve route, at the cost of a larger hybrid footprint. None of these formats guarantees a taste result from the listed features; capacity, controls and the way you serve each cup are the evidence-based distinctions.
