Hamilton Beach R49620 recertified: the same hot-and-iced brewer with a shorter warranty

Hamilton Beach lists model R49620 as a factory-recertified version of its 12-cup programmable hot-and-iced brewer. The R prefix matters to the purchase decision: it identifies a recertified offer, not another brew mode. The maker's page names the exact R49620 code, says it is professionally recertified after testing and inspection, and states a 90-day warranty.

The brew routine is the familiar part

The exact R49620 offer page describes hot or iced coffee from ground coffee, a glass carafe, a 24-hour programmable delay, Regular, Bold, 1–4 cup and Iced choices, Auto Pause & Pour, and a two-hour hot shutoff. It gives the same 14.6-inch height, 7.3-inch width and 11.8-inch depth as the standard 49620 page. The official R49620 listing also embeds the same 49620-coded hero image used on the standard product page. Those clues support treating R49620 as a condition variant of the same functional brewer—not as a distinct configuration or proof of the condition of a particular unit.

The standard 49620 Use & Care guide names model 49620 and Type A110. It documents the #4 cone-paper-filter basket, ordinary hot-batch settings and an iced recipe that brews double-strength coffee over ice in the carafe. For that recipe, the guide calls for water to the brewer's six-cup line and ice to the carafe's ten-cup line. The exact R49620 offer page says manuals are included but does not link a specific copy, so confirm the delivered instructions and components rather than assuming a particular package.

Condition and warranty are where the decision changes

The R49620 offer's 90-day warranty is shorter than the one-year U.S. warranty stated in the standard 49620 Use & Care guide for a new product. Do not carry that new-product warranty over to the recertified unit. Hamilton Beach says the R offer is inspected and tested, but the listing does not certify the cosmetic grade of the individual machine or itemize every accessory. Ask the seller about the delivered condition, return policy and package contents before deciding. A manufacturer hero illustration depicts the product design; it cannot show the condition of a particular recertified machine, and Hamilton Beach does not label it as a photograph or rendering.

Who should choose which path?

If the hot-and-iced carafe routine is right but you want the standard new-product warranty, compare a new 49620-family offer only when one is actually available to you. Consider R49620 only if the separate recertified condition and shorter stated coverage are acceptable; neither the image nor the shared brew menu makes the two purchase conditions interchangeable. For the shared brewing assessment, see our Hamilton Beach 49620J review, which covers the maker-documented hot and over-ice routines without claiming that the R offer is a separate functional model.
