Cuisinart SS-21NAS or earlier SS-20 Coffee Center?

Start with the shared thermal-carafe routine

The Cuisinart SS-21NAS and earlier SS-20 family pair a 10-cup thermal carafe with a single-serve side. Neither is the glass-carafe Coffee Center arrangement, and neither runs a carafe brew while the pod side is active. If your must-have is simply “one thermal pot plus a separate cup,” both fit that outline. The differences that decide a purchase are the documented single-cup settings, reservoir size, and whether you are assessing a current exact listing or an earlier model.

What SS-21NAS adds to the small-cup menu

The exact SS-21NAS page lists a removable 42-ounce single-serve reservoir and five settings: 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 ounces. It also lists a HomeBarista reusable grounds cup, pod Over Ice, carafe Over Ice, Bold for hot carafe coffee and a 24-hour brew start. The manual describes a 15-gram maximum for the reusable cup and directs it through the single-serve brew-size routine. Its thermal carafe is rated for 10 cups and the manual says it retains heat for up to four hours, without a heating plate.

By contrast, the exact SS-20 and SS-20P1 pages specify a 40-ounce single-serve reservoir with 6-, 8- and 10-ounce settings. Both list an included HomeBarista cup, a thermal 10-cup carafe and a gold-tone filter. The SS-20 manual calls the carafe base a resting plate, not a heater. That makes the older model a useful comparison for existing owners, but not a substitute for checking the exact label or package condition on an earlier offer.

Check the choice you actually need

  • If you often want a four-ounce cup or a regular twelve-ounce pod setting, the SS-21NAS lists both; the SS-20's page lists neither.
  • If the biggest difference is the insulated ten-cup pot, both product families describe that arrangement. Neither has the glass-pot visibility and warming-plate controls of a different Coffee Center.
  • If you use your own coffee, both list a HomeBarista cup. The SS-21 manual states a 15-gram grounds maximum; do not assume that it brews sixteen ounces because another Cuisinart model has a larger grounds-cup routine.
  • If Over Ice, Bold, or an automatic start matters, read the exact model page and instructions. Feature names do not mean every setting works with every brew route; the SS-21 manual limits Bold to hot carafe mode.

For an SS-21NAS offer, check the exact suffix, carafe, two filter arrangements and reusable cup in the seller's package. Cuisinart's SS-21NAS page links the SS-21 Series manual. For an SS-20 or SS-20P1, consult its separately documented earlier product page and SS-20 Series manual; do not borrow the newer reservoir or size list for the older package.

Compare the routine, not just the feature list.
