Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can one glass carafe maker brew a regular hot pot or a dedicated iced coffee batch from grounds?
Yes. The exact CM0122 manual documents hot brewing and an Iced Coffee mode that brews over ice; iced mode caps water at the 6 mark and turns off the warming plate.
Explore this need in the finder →Is iced mode the same as cold-water Cold Brew or a single-serve pod cup?
No. It brews hot coffee into ice in the carafe; no pod input or cold-water steep is documented.
Explore this need in the finder →Can the iced cycle keep a hot plate on to warm leftover iced coffee?
No. The manual says the plate stays off during Iced Coffee mode to reduce melting the ice; the iced method uses measured ice in the carafe.
Explore this need in the finder →The BLACK+DECKER CM0122-1BD Spiltbrew is more than a standard pot machine only if you will actually use the second route: it makes hot coffee or a dedicated iced-coffee carafe from grounds. The iced mode brews hot and directs the concentrated coffee onto ice in the glass carafe. That is different from a cold-water steep and from a pod brewer’s single iced cup. If you want both styles in the same household appliance and already keep ice on hand, that distinction can matter more than a generic claim of versatility.

Hot pot and iced pot are different operating plans
For hot coffee, the use-and-care manual describes a twelve-maker-cup glass carafe, with each maker cup approximately five ounces. Use grounds and a basket-style paper filter in the removable brew basket. Brew Later schedules the next hot pot, and the Strong option changes the cycle; the manual recommends Strong when making four cups or fewer. There is no separate single-cup outlet, pod adapter, or hot-water dispenser documented in the exact configuration.
For iced coffee, the controls use a separate ICED COFFEE button. The manual’s instructions cap the water reservoir at the “6 MAX ICED” line, then call for ice in the carafe and grounds in the basket. Its table pairs six maker-cups of water with twelve servings and ice filled to the twelve line, with smaller proportional plans too. The warming plate does not turn on in the iced mode, specifically to reduce melting ice. In practice that means you should not confuse the pot’s twelve-cup line with the iced-mode water fill, and it helps to have room for the carafe and ice in your prep routine.
BLACK+DECKER says its iced result is 75% stronger and less watered down. Treat that as the maker’s claim: I have not independently measured concentration, temperature, dilution, or flavor against a competing recipe. It is still a useful source-backed menu difference because the manual provides the ice/water/grounds instructions and a dedicated mode.
Programming and warming
The machine has a digital clock and up-to-24-hour Brew Later setting. It is a timer on the appliance, not an app connection. For hot coffee, the plate can keep the brewed pot warm for up to four hours and then the brewer turns off. For iced coffee, the plate stays inactive. Sneak-A-Cup pauses the flow while you remove the carafe; return it within thirty seconds so brewing can restart without an overflow. These are useful conveniences, but none makes the carafe continuously hot or the iced setting a refrigerator steep.
Care and counter fit
The product is listed at about 13.19 inches tall, 13.27 inches long and 7.02 inches wide, so check both counter depth and overhead access. The removable parts can go on the top dishwasher rack or be washed by hand according to the manual. Auto Clean reminds you after sixty cycles (roughly two months); the descaling routine takes around 45–60 minutes, followed by a fresh-water cycle. This is a larger care task than rinsing one cup, especially if you use the brewer daily.
The manual calls for a basket-shaped paper filter. It does not establish that this exact package includes a permanent reusable filter, so do not count on one when that is an essential requirement. It is also grounds-only; if you need K-Cup-style pods, look at a pod-and-grounds brewer instead. If you want the simpler 12-cup programmable glass-pot routine without a dedicated iced carafe mode, compare the CM1110B-1. If the second mode is not valuable, paying counter space for it may not improve your routine.
