Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
What is the meaningful capacity difference between the exact One Press 47601 and 47600 models?
Hamilton Beach lists 47601 at 14 internal coffee-reservoir cups and 47600 at 12. The exact manufacturer cup count should not be converted into a large-mug count; the overall serving routine is otherwise the same batch-then-lever format.
Explore this need in the finder →Does a 14-cup internal tank make the 47601 a glass-carafe brewer?
No. Its glass coffee reservoir sits inside the machine, and the guide says not to pour directly from it. The assembled unit dispenses by lever; it is not a separate glass carafe.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the One Press 1–4 Cups option provide direct travel-mug brewing?
No direct travel-mug brew size is documented for this reservoir dispenser. Its 1–4 Cups choice brews a smaller batch into the internal reservoir, then the finished coffee is dispensed by lever.
Explore this need in the finder →The Hamilton Beach One Press 47601 addresses a specific serving problem: how to keep a larger batch available for repeated cups without moving a carafe. Its 14-cup coffee reservoir is a removable glass vessel inside the brewer, and a lever dispenses into a mug after the batch is finished. That arrangement can make serving easier in a kitchen where coffee stays at the machine. It is not an automatic pod-sized brewer, despite Hamilton Beach also describing it as single-serve.
What changes at 14 cups
Compared with the One Press 47600, the 47601’s documented batch and water-reservoir limit is 14 rather than 12 maker-cups. Hamilton Beach lists the same exterior dimensions for both; the linked use-and-care guide includes the two exact model codes and the operating instructions, while the product pages show different exact images and capacities. The cup rating is the manufacturer’s reservoir measure, not a promise of fourteen large mugs. The guide does not give an ounce conversion for this internal tank. Select the 47601 because you need the extra rated capacity, not because the model number alone guarantees a larger cup or a different brew profile.
The larger rating does not add a second brewing route. Both codes use ground coffee, a removable water tank, the same internal glass coffee reservoir and lever service. The maker has no K-Cup pod path; Hamilton Beach says it is not compatible with K-Cup pods. During brewing, wait for the coffee-ready display before dispensing. The cup lever is for serving stored coffee after a batch, not for forcing an early pour or brewing a fresh pod-sized drink into each mug.
Small batches and programmed holding
Three control choices are Regular, Bold and 1–4 Cups. The last is a smaller batch selection, not a separate single-cup outlet. Even in that mode, the Use & Care guide calls for at least four tablespoons of coffee grounds. The digital clock can program a brew up to 24 hours later, which suits a household that wants a batch ready at a predictable time. After brewing, the display counts the time since brew; the internal heater can be set to keep warm for zero to four hours, four hours by default. It is an adjustable internal hold, not a separate warming plate under a carafe.
The 47601’s listed dimensions are 14.3 inches high, 8.3 inches wide and 12.8 inches deep. The height and removable reservoirs matter in a cabinet: allow space for the lid to open and enough clearance to lift the water container. The exact guide rates this U.S. model type at 120 volts, 60 hertz and 1050 watts. No brew-temperature, extraction, taste-test or comparative speed measurement is documented here.
Cleaning and package uncertainty
The manual provides a 30-brew-cycle cleaning reminder and a separate water-filter reminder every 60 brews. It explains a vinegar cleaning cycle followed by two or three full water-only batches. The guide lists the brew basket, water reservoir, water-reservoir lid and removable grounds basket (when a model includes one) as dishwasher-safe, but says to hand wash the glass coffee reservoir, reservoir lid and dispensing straw. Avoid abrasive cleaners on the glass; its safety section warns against scratches, impact and placing the hot reservoir on a cold or wet surface.
Do not assume every filter-looking accessory is part of the box. The manual says the removable grounds filter basket comes with select models without naming 47601 in that general note. Its product page lists a nylon permanent filter as a separate part, but that alone does not establish included package contents. A basket-style paper filter is the documented way to load the brew basket. The optional charcoal water filter performs a different job in the removable water reservoir and is not the coffee-grounds insert.
Is the larger One Press your better match?
Consider the 47601 when several people will dispense from one counter, a 14-cup internal tank is useful, and avoiding a lifted pot matters more than taking coffee to the table. If 12 maker-cups are ample, the 47600 follows the same basic routine and gives a smaller stated maximum. If a person usually wants one fresh serving at a time, a true pod brewer or dedicated single-cup grounds model is a better match than brewing a batch and holding it warm. If you need a portable serving vessel, the Hamilton Beach 2-Way 47500J / 47501J’s glass carafe is a more relevant route; it brews separately on its carafe side. If you need an iced recipe, the BrewStation 47950 has a documented grounds Over Ice routine that is not listed for the One Press family. These are operating differences, not a claim that one brewer makes better coffee.
