A useful fit for

For households that will use both ground coffee and compatible K-Cup pods, want a 12-cup glass carafe plus smaller grounds choices, and prefer Over Ice to a separate cold-steep routine.

The main tradeoff

Switching coffee formats means changing the brew-path adapter, grounds require a separate filter, the glass carafe rests on a fixed-temperature plate, and descaling is a long manual-directed routine. Hot-water dispensing, a milk frother and current availability are not confirmed for this exact model.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Can the CFP201 alternate between grounds and compatible K-Cup pods?

Yes. Its model guide describes separate grounds and pod modes that share the brew basket. Grounds use a filter; the Ninja Pod Adapter is fitted for K-Cup pods and reusable K-Cup filters are not compatible inside it.

Can the CFP201 brew a 12-ounce pod Over Ice?

Yes. The model guide lists 6, 8, 10 and 12-ounce pod menu settings with Over Ice as a brew style; its approximate table lists about 11 ounces at the 12-ounce Over Ice setting, intended for a cup filled with ice.

Can the CFP201 hold a glass carafe on its warming plate?

Yes. The CFP201 guide names an Intelligent Warming Plate that turns on for Classic or Rich carafe sizes; it sets a specific temperature and allows the duration to be adjusted from zero to four hours.

The Ninja CFP201 DualBrew is a two-format brewer with an important practical distinction: its grounds path and its compatible pod path use the same brew basket, but different adapters. The model-specific owner guide covers a full 9-size grounds menu, four pod sizes, three brew styles, a removable 60-ounce reservoir and a glass carafe. It is a fit for a household that will actually switch between ground coffee and K-Cup-style pods, rather than someone seeking the fewest parts or a dedicated single-serve machine.

One brewer, two loading routines

For ground coffee, remove the Ninja Pod Adapter, close the sliding grounds lid and place a paper or compatible permanent filter in the basket. The guide says a filter is required; it identifies the permanent filter as separately sold. For K-Cup pods, the adapter sits over the same brew basket and must be locked before brewing. Ninja cautions that reusable K-Cup filters do not fit inside its adapter. The two routes give the machine genuine flexibility, but changing coffee type is a physical change of parts, not an automatic choice in a menu. Grounds coffee also needs a filter, and the manual says very fine coffee can overflow the basket. This is not a bean grinder: whole beans must be ground elsewhere.

The 60-ounce reservoir is shared between those formats and removable for filling and cleaning. The exact CFP201 guide describes grounds and pods, not a separate hot-water dispensing function or separate tanks.

The size and ice choices are useful, not exact promises

The grounds menu has nine named settings: Small Cup, Cup, XL Cup, Travel, XL Travel, quarter-carafe, half-carafe, three-quarter-carafe and Full Carafe. The manual’s approximate Classic outputs run from 8 ounces for Small Cup to 55 ounces at Full Carafe; it lists 15 ounces for Travel and 18 for XL Travel. Rich uses less water and yields less coffee. Those manufacturer figures are approximate: grounds absorb water, and the actual amount can vary. Do not mistake a menu name for a guaranteed filled mug or an exact serving count.

The pod route offers 6, 8, 10 or 12 ounces. Classic, Rich and Over Ice are documented for both coffee inputs. Over Ice is not slow-steeped cold brew. Fill the serving vessel with ice, select the size and brew into it; the machine makes a concentrated coffee that is chilled as some of the ice melts. The guide’s pod table lists about 9 ounces for the 10-ounce Over Ice selection and 11 ounces for the 12-ounce selection, so the number on the control is not necessarily the amount of coffee before ice. It also instructs users not to put ice in the reservoir. Anyone who wants grounds steeped cold rather than hot coffee over ice should compare a model with a separately documented Cold Brew mode.

A warming plate with a timer, not temperature choices

The included glass carafe is a 12-cup model, and its warming plate automatically turns on for quarter-, half-, three-quarter- and full-carafe Classic or Rich brews. The plate uses a specific temperature setpoint; the CFP201 guide describes adjustment of how long it stays on, not a choice among warmer temperatures. The default is two hours and the setting can be raised in 15-minute steps up to four hours or turned down to zero. That is useful if a small pot should stop heating sooner, but it is not the same as choosing Low, Medium or High heat. A buyer who values insulated holding rather than a hot plate should compare a thermal-carafe model instead.

Delay Brew can schedule a grounds or pod routine after the size and brew style are set. The brewer must remain on for the delayed start; switching it off or unplugging it means resetting the delay. At high elevation, Ninja requires a calibration brew before regular use and warns that skipping it can lead to excessive steaming.

Account for adapters and a long clean cycle

Used parts need attention after each brew. The basket comes out for washing, and pod users must also remove and hand-wash the adapter; Ninja warns against putting that adapter or the sliding lid in the dishwasher. The reservoir can be hand-washed or placed upright in the dishwasher, and the manual recommends weekly system cleaning. Descaling takes about 75 minutes with long pauses and ends with a water-only flush. The guide says to clean the grounds or pod mode you use. This is less convenient than a simple one-piece pod machine.

There are also several boundaries worth preserving when comparing model names. The CFP201’s exact guide does not list an included reusable filter, a 4-ounce pod setting, a 16-ounce grounds cup, a built-in grinder, a grounds Cold Brew mode or a dedicated Specialty concentrate. Its file documents Over Ice instead. A separate milk frother and a separate hot-water outlet are not described in this model-specific guide, so treat either as unconfirmed rather than assuming a similarly named Ninja model has the same package. Related DualBrew products vary in carafe, features and included parts; compare their own model pages and guides before choosing.

Who should consider the CFP201?

Consider it as a reference for a household that wants both compatible pods and ground coffee, a 12-cup glass pot, a useful range of smaller grounds servings and the option to brew over ice. It trades one appliance for a lid-and-adapter change, separate filter needs, a glass carafe on a fixed-temperature plate and regular descaling. The Ninja CFP101 is the closer later comparison if adjustable warming-plate temperature matters; the DualBrew Pro CFP301/CFP307 family adds documented specialty functions but has its own exact-model differences. If the priority is one-step pod brewing or minimal cleanup, compare a single-serve-only brewer. The CFP201’s model-specific guide is an earlier reference, not proof of present retail availability or of what any seller currently includes in a box.
