A useful fit for

A fit for a household that genuinely alternates between a glass pot and pod cups, wants smaller grounds servings as well as a 12-cup carafe, and will use an adjustable hot-plate hold.

The main tradeoff

It adds adapters, cleaning and counter height in exchange for switching between coffee formats; the exact package lists paper filters rather than a reusable permanent filter, and it has no documented cold brew, hot-water outlet or frother.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Does the CFP101 let me brew grounds with paper filters right from the box, without buying a permanent filter?

Yes. Its listed package includes a paper-filter kit and grounds adapter; the guide says a permanent reusable filter is sold separately. The exact box does not include that reusable filter.

Can the CFP101 make a pod Over Ice at the 12-ounce setting?

Yes. The owner guide lists 6, 8, 10 and 12-ounce pod sizes and an Over Ice style. Its Over Ice table lists about 11 ounces for the 12-ounce choice and explains that the table accounts for ice melt; this is not an 11-ounce coffee-only output guarantee.

Can I choose how long and how hot the CFP101 keeps a glass carafe?

Yes. Its Intelligent Warming Plate can run up to four hours and has Low, Medium and High temperature settings; the default is two hours at Medium.

The Ninja CFP101 DualBrew Hot & Iced combines a glass-carafe brewer with a separate pod adapter, so it can make a shared pot or a single cup without dedicating two spots on the counter. The exact-model SharkNinja listing describes nine grounds sizes, four pod sizes and three brew styles. Unlike the DualBrew Pro models, it lacks the documented Specialty brew, separate hot-water dispenser and milk frother. The manufacturer listing currently shows a back-in-stock notification, so this review identifies the model rather than promising current availability.

Two coffee routes, one 60-ounce tank

For grounds, the CFP101 uses its included grounds adapter over the brew basket and a #4 cone paper filter; the package includes a paper-filter kit. Ninja's owner guide says a permanent filter is sold separately. For pods, remove the grounds adapter and seat the separate Ninja Pod Adapter over the same basket. The machine senses which adapter is fitted. A change of coffee format therefore means opening the lid and changing parts, not merely pressing another button.

The grounds route has nine named choices, from Small Cup to Full Carafe. The guide's approximate table lists 8, 10, 12, 14 and 18 ounces for the five cup or travel-mug settings, then 28, 37, 46 and 55 ounces for the quarter-, half-, three-quarter- and full-carafe options. These are approximate output volumes: coffee absorbs water, and grind and brew style affect the final amount. The full-carafe setting is rated for the included 12-cup glass pot. Ninja's serving-size labels and a mug's actual capacity are not necessarily the same, so choose a size with room for what you plan to add.

Over Ice is a hot brew meant for a cup of ice

Both grounds and pods offer Classic, Rich and Over Ice. Classic is the everyday setting; Rich uses less water for a more concentrated result. Over Ice is not a slow cold-brew cycle: the guide says to fill the vessel to the top with ice and brew hot coffee over it. On the pod route, the Over Ice column lists about 9 ounces for the 10-ounce choice and 11 ounces for the 12-ounce choice. The guide says the table accounts for ice melt, so these are approximate overall drink volumes, not a promise of 9 or 11 ounces of coffee before ice. That reduced brew amount is intentional. If you specifically want grounds steeped cold, this is not the same function. The controls do not replace a dedicated cold-brew machine.

The brewer can take pre-ground coffee, but it does not grind whole beans. Use a medium grind and keep it inside a correctly fitted paper or separately purchased permanent filter. Ninja warns that fine grounds can clog or overflow the basket, that a filter should not be omitted, and that a reusable K-Cup-style filter is not compatible inside the Ninja pod adapter.

A glass pot with a genuinely adjustable warmer

On Classic or Rich carafe brews, the Intelligent Warming Plate turns on automatically when a carafe size is selected. Its hold time can be set from zero to four hours and its temperature from Low, Medium or High; the factory setting is two hours at Medium. This is more control than a simple on/off heater, but it is still a glass carafe sitting on a hot surface. It does not give you the hands-off insulation of a thermal pot, and the warming setting applies to the carafe routine, not to keeping a pod drink warm.

Delay Brew can schedule either coffee format, but the machine has to remain powered for the timer to run. If it is unplugged or turned off, the guide says the delayed start must be reset.

Plan for setup and cleaning, not just the footprint

The single removable reservoir holds 60 ounces and feeds both routes. The owner guide calls for a water-only priming cycle before first use and a high-altitude calibration if you live at a high elevation; skipping that calibration can lead to excessive steaming. It also says to clean the system weekly. Descaling is a long routine—about 75 minutes—with pauses built into the cycle, followed by a full-carafe water-only flush. When the display shows “CLOG,” the guide points to obstructed pod needles or scale as possible causes, so regular cleaning matters more here than on a very simple one-button brewer.

After brewing, the basket and whichever adapter you used need to be removed and washed, and the glass pot and brew-through lid need washing too. The separate adapters are useful because each has a distinct job, but they add pieces to dry and store. One adapter can be held in the supplied rear storage piece; the other remains in the machine. If accessible maintenance and a low-part-count routine matter more than pod/grounds flexibility, compare a conventional carafe brewer or a dedicated single-serve machine instead.

The CFP101 measures 13.07 inches long by 12.01 inches wide by 17.4 inches high, weighs 11.55 pounds and has a 29-inch cord; the listed electrical input is 120 volts and 1,550 watts. Leave space to lift the top, remove the reservoir and pull out the carafe; the manual warns against using it under a wall cabinet or inside an appliance garage.

Who should compare it?

Choose the CFP101 when you want one machine to cover a broad grounds-size range, a 12-cup glass carafe, single-serve pods that fit the included adapter and an iced-coffee setting, and you do not mind switching adapters or cleaning several removable pieces. It is a less direct fit if you need a reusable filter supplied in the box, a thermal carafe, built-in grinding, dedicated cold brew, a separate hot-water outlet or a milk frother. Ninja's CFP301/CFP307 DualBrew Pro models add different package features; check their exact carafe and filter lists rather than assuming the CFP101 shares them. For a simpler daily ritual, choose one format and compare a single-purpose brewer before accepting the extra modes and counter height.
