Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Must the machine grind whole beans in the brewer?
Yes. The exact ES701-series pages list an integrated conical burr grinder with 25 settings, and the guide explains that it recommends grind sizes for the selected drink.
Explore this need in the finder →Do you need a separate hot-water outlet as well as a milk-steaming route?
Yes. The guide labels a separate Hot Water control and outlet behind the group head, with low, medium and high settings. It also describes a manually operated steam wand and automatic froth presets.
Explore this need in the finder →Can pre-ground coffee be used without the built-in grinder?
No separate bypass is documented. The guide says to put whole beans in the hopper and not pre-ground beans, so an essential Grind Off/pre-ground requirement remains unknown rather than satisfied.
Explore this need in the finder →Can this configuration serve a 12-cup batch into a glass carafe?
No batch carafe appears in the manufacturer package list; the manual describes a portafilter and cup-by-cup coffee sizes instead.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the ES701 offer a Cold Brew menu drink in its whole-bean workflow?
The exact U.S. page and guide document a Cold Brew program with the integrated whole-bean grinder; they do not document a separate reusable-grounds Cold Brew input route.
Explore this need in the finder →The Ninja Luxe Café Pro is a guided bean-to-drink station rather than a carafe brewer with bonus buttons. The U.S. finish codes ES701 (Stainless Steel), ES701STGD (limited Stone & Gold) and ES701WH (Oat Milk) share the same documented functions and core package. Espresso, drip-style coffee, a Cold Brew mode and separate hot water come with a conical burr grinder and assisted tamp. The payoff is range in one machine; the trade is a hands-on portafilter routine instead of a pot for several people at once.
Start with whole beans and a portafilter
A 25-setting grinder covers fine espresso through coarser coffee settings. Barista Assist recommends a grind setting for the selected drink and adapts the recommendation as you use it, while weight-based dosing and a built-in scale help portion beans. After grinding, the machine prompts you to tamp; its lever supplies the tamp rather than asking you to press down a loose tamper. That removes one fiddly step, but this is still not a fully automatic espresso maker: you fit one of the supplied single, double or Luxe baskets into the portafilter, position and lock the portafilter, start the drink, then knock out and rinse the grounds.
There is an important input limit: the manual instructs owners to fill the bean hopper with whole beans and not pre-ground coffee. I found no separate pre-ground bypass, so choose another model if that route is essential. The documented package also has no pod or capsule adapter.
Coffee comes cup by cup, not from a batch carafe
For the coffee mode, the menu offers 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18-ounce drink sizes, with Classic, Rich, Over Ice and Cold Brew choices. For Cold Brew, the manual says to fill the serving cup with ice before brewing; that is a single drink mode, not a large overnight batch. Each selection is prepared through the portafilter, so a large serving or a row of drinks means repeating a grind-and-brew cycle. There is no batch carafe in the documented package. If mornings mean filling several mugs, the Cuisinart Barista Bar SS-4N1NAS is a more natural fit.
Espresso adds single, double and Luxe basket choices, with ristretto, espresso, lungo, Americano and cold-pressed options. The grinder moves from fine espresso to coarser coffee settings, but the right basket, dose and cup still matter. Barista Assist reduces guesswork; it does not make every bean behave the same.
Milk and hot water are separate jobs
The included XL milk jug and Dual Froth System Pro cover five presets: steamed milk, thin froth, thick froth, extra-thick froth and cold foam. Ninja says the jug can make foam for two drinks at a time. The guided presets run the whisk-and-steam routine, or the manual describes pulling out the wand for manual frothing. Milk is still prepared in the jug and poured into the coffee. Wipe the wand promptly and let its automatic purge run.
A separate hot-water selection dispenses from the outlet behind the group head, with low, medium and high temperature choices. It is convenient for tea or an Americano without first brewing coffee. The default output is eight ounces if you do not stop it yourself, so place a cup that can catch the chosen amount before starting.
Give it a real counter space and a care routine
The 70-ounce water reservoir limits how often you refill, but the appliance itself is substantial: 15.51 inches long, 15 inches wide and 19.33 inches high, at 31.66 pounds. Check both the footprint and overhead clearance before committing. The owner guide warns against using the machine under a wall cabinet or inside a cabinet while it is operating, which matters for a machine this tall. It is a plug-in 120-volt, 1,650-watt appliance, not a small pod brewer to tuck away between cups.
Budget time for espresso and milk cleanup: empty the portafilter, rinse the basket, wipe and purge the wand, and empty the drip tray as needed. The included cleaning tablet and disc support a roughly six-minute group-head clean cycle; descaling takes about 90 minutes, with a water-hardness test kit included. There is also a useful but easy-to-miss transition rule: after a hot drink, brewing a cold drink triggers an approximately eight-ounce rinse through the group head. If you often switch between hot and cold drinks, make all the cold drinks first or account for that water and wait.
Which routine should point you elsewhere?
Choose this family when fresh whole beans, guided espresso and individual drip-style coffee matter more than batch volume. It is especially appealing if you also want a distinct hot-water function and both automatic and manual milk frothing in one counter appliance. If you need a 12-cup pot, a single-use pod, an OriginalLine-style capsule, or a verified way to brew pre-ground coffee, this is the wrong configuration. The CFP101 DualBrew Hot & Iced offers separate grounds and pod routes with a 12-cup glass pot, while the SS-4N1NAS Barista Bar combines grounds, compatible pods, OriginalLine-style capsules, a glass carafe and a hands-on steam wand without a built-in bean grinder. Those alternatives trade away some bean-to-cup guidance for broader format or batch flexibility.
Choose by the exact finish code
The Stainless Steel ES701 is the main review image. The same-function finish variants are shown below so you can compare the body colors without mistaking one SKU for another; the maker does not say whether these catalog visuals are photographs or renders, and the drinks beside the machines are staged.

The standard finish codes are not separate brew plans: ES701 is Stainless Steel, ES701STGD is Stone & Gold, and ES701WH is Oat Milk. Each exact U.S. page lists the same Pro functions, dimensions, weight, one-year limited warranty and core portafilter kit. The Black & Gold David Beckham ES771BK has its own exact-model review: its U.S. listing confirms the same four functions and 25-setting grinder, while its matte-black stainless, ebony-wood and gold finish and exact package are recorded separately. Check the code before choosing a finish.
