Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Will the 49935 really make the iced drink you want from either pods or grounds?
Yes for a brewed-over-ice single cup: the 49935 guide gives 10/12/14 oz iced sizes, uses 5/6/7 oz of ice, and describes both the pod holder and grounds basket. It is not grounds Cold Brew; if a cold-water steep is essential, it is a mismatch.
Explore this need in the finder →Does the 12-cup glass pot solve batch coffee without giving up a single cup?
Yes, the exact configuration has a separate 12-cup grounds carafe and an alternate hot or iced single-serve route. The manual describes Auto Brew preparing the device as it is configured; it does not support a claim that these paths run at once.
Explore this need in the finder →What does the removable grounds basket mean for cleanup and filters?
The included single-serve basket holds up to 3 tablespoons/15g. The separate carafe uses a basket-style paper filter; the manufacturer does not list a reusable carafe filter in the included box items.
Explore this need in the finder →The Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Advanced 5-in-1 (49935) suits a kitchen that wants an iced single cup and a full pot in one appliance. Its five routes are hot pods, hot grounds, iced pods, iced grounds and a grounds carafe. “Five” describes menu choices, not simultaneous brewers.
What the five-in-one actually changes
Hot single servings offer 8, 10, 12 or 14 ounces from either the pod holder or included green grounds basket. Hamilton Beach recommends pods at 12 ounces or less for best flavor. The grounds basket holds up to 3 tablespoons/15 grams; for sediment, the guide suggests a No. 1 paper cone. Iced brews offer 10, 12 or 14 ounces with 5, 6 or 7 ounces of ice respectively—the ice counts toward the finished drink volume. This brews coffee over ice, not a long cold-water steep.
The glass carafe has 2-, 4-, 6-, 8-, 10- and 12-cup selections and a 12-tablespoon/60-gram grounds limit. Keep Warm runs for four hours. Regular and Bold are documented for hot single cups and the carafe, not the iced routine.
A single reservoir moves to fit the counter
The single removable 60-ounce reservoir can sit at the side or back; “dual-position” does not mean two tanks. The maker lists a maximum 12.8-inch height, 9.3-inch width and 16.2-inch depth. Measure the setup with the tank, lids and carafe in their actual positions.
The listed box includes a glass carafe, reservoir, pod holder and single-serve grounds basket. The carafe basket uses a basket-style paper filter; a permanent carafe insert is not listed. The included reusable grounds basket is for single servings, so do not assume it replaces the carafe filter.
Who should consider the 49935?
It fits a household that alternates single iced drinks with a larger batch. Auto Brew can start the single-cup or carafe setup selected at timer time; it is not a separate schedule for each side. The manual does not establish simultaneous cup-and-pot output. A travel mug up to 7.25 inches tall fits when the cup rest is removed.
In exchange for that range, expect a movable tank, removable pieces and a swing-out carafe basket—not the simplicity of a dedicated pod machine. The maker calls for at least monthly cleaning, or weekly in hard-water areas. Its two-stage vinegar clean/rinse cycle serves both brewing paths, and mineral deposits can cause leakage from the unused side. Removable pieces are top-rack dishwasher safe except the sanitize cycle; unplug and cool the brewer before clearing its sharp pod needle.

There is also a separate U.S. model code, 49922, in the same A161 manual family. Its exact product page uses the “Black & Stainless” name and shows a brighter brushed-metal front than the darker 49935 hero image. The exact pages list the same five routes, 60-ounce movable tank, touchscreen, Auto Brew for a single cup or carafe, 12-cup glass pot and dimensions; the Use & Care model table includes both codes under Type A161. This is a finish/model-code alternative with the same documented operating plan, not a sixth routine. The manufacturer lists slightly different weights (12.45 lb for 49922 and 12.50 lb for 49935), so this review does not treat weight as an interchangeable exact spec.
Recertified R49922 shares the 49922/A161 five-route function but has a 90-day warranty versus one year for the standard U.S. model. See our comparison guide; it adds no brew mode.

A third exact code, 49927, has its own U.S. page and hero image. That page lists the same five routines, movable 60-ounce tank, 12-cup glass carafe, Auto Brew choices and dimensions, and links to the same A161 Use & Care guide. The model table includes 49927 alongside 49922 and 49935. The exact page title does not name a finish, so keep the 49927 code distinct rather than treating the image as a finish specification; its published operating plan matches this review, not a new sixth function.

Choose the 49935 over the Advanced 4-in-1 49925 when the glass carafe is the deciding feature: the 49925 is a single-cup hot/iced pod-and-grounds brewer without a carafe. Choose the older FlexBrew Trio 49957 when a programmable glass pot and separate pod/grounds cup are enough and iced modes are unnecessary; its official page and guide document a smaller 10-ounce pod limit and it uses a separate pair of reservoirs. The 49926 is the alternative when two single-serve chambers or a combined tall-mug routine matter more than a carafe. Each solves a different morning pattern, so the count of functions matters less than which one you will use.
This model is not a cold-brew steeping machine, an independent hot-water dispenser, or a two-cup single-serve brewer. If any of those is essential, look for the exact function rather than stretching “iced” or “five ways” to cover it. And while Hamilton Beach promotes a hot cup in under two minutes, that is a manufacturer statement, not a measured result from this guide. No independent temperature, flavor, durability or brew-time testing is claimed.
Bottom line: The 49935 pairs hot/iced pod and grounds cups with a 12-cup glass pot, defined ice amounts and a movable 60-ounce reservoir. It suits a household that uses both routes. It is less compelling if you only make pods, need a thermal carafe, require grounds cold brew, or need simultaneous brewing; the cited instructions establish none of those extras.
